Any Australian can help me about the cheapest place in Sydney to get them... Also I someone can get me info about the trains and the best way to go around this cities.. I'm thinking to travel by train. but i'm nor sure if we can get all this cities by train and in this direction... Any indication, would be welcome.. Thanks, regards Consuelo |

Hi, and welcome to IndiaMike. There is no hard and fast answer to your question, although it gets discussed a lot, so you could search around the site, notably the Health sub-forum you're in.
To get you started, if you scroll to the bottom of this page, you'll find a listing of "similar threads." Opening any of those will again feature a list of similar threads at bottom, and so on and so forth. It's an easy way to navigate the site. The far better thing to do is look up a tropical health clinic where you are, or a doctor specialized in the same, and discuss your needs and wishes with them, then make an educated decision. Do note that everyone will have their own opinions on it, and even in the professional field opinions will vary over time, between practitioners, between countries or regions, etc. At least they're supposed to have studied it and hopefully keep track of professional literature on it though. If you mean you're leaving in 15 days that's very short btw, I'd get on the phone about it now.

As well as the many threads here on Indiamike, I found the following website really useful (combined with a visit to the doctor, of course)

I recommend Hep A and even Hep B. Typhoid and Polio are very easy to obtain as well so why not? Tetanus is always useful. Next Hep B for me..

No, those viruses and other diseases only strike on day 13 and in cities not beginning with D, as any travel health site will tell you. US citizens are exempt anyway.

One week from today, and I'll be on my way to Delhi and parts north for the first time. No doubt, this trip will be a wonderful birdwatching adventure.

We cannot answer vaccination questions without the posters entire medical history.
They will need to obtain full copies of all nnotes from their doctor, along with recent x-rays, scans and ultra-sounds. Full blood test results should also be included. Oh, heck! They might as well just ask the doctor! ![]()

Hi there - ignore those silly people!!!
I'll answer one of your questions anyway!!!! If you are in Bondi, which you probably are go up to Bondi Rd, opposite Kemeneys and down a bit and you will see a travel medicine clinic there... apparently he hates people going to India and will try to tell you not to - but he does have all the vaccines and knows which ones to give you and will advise you accordingly Coming from Chile you probably have already had yellow fever vaccine and several of the others you might need anyway. BAD NEWS - they are UNBELIEVABLY expensive - even for us Aussies there is no medicare subsidy - I think it cost us about $150 each person for all the vaccines we needed. Anyway - let me know if you need any more info, and if you are around Bondi I'd be happy to hook up for a coffee and tell you more about India - we went to some of the places you are going. ![]() |

I believe yellow fever is one that's really not necessary nor mandatory for India. But, well, just goes to show -- so many opinions, right. I hear it's very expensive out your ways yes -- What can one say, my usual advice is if you need to economize, don't do it on your health please. |

It is mandatory for anyone coming from Africa or South America I believe - but also for Australia too, so she should already have had it to come here... is what I meant.

Yes, you're right, that's quite possible. Having spent some time that ways, I was thinking the other way around, sorry.
Too bad OP didn't get this arranged in Chile if it should be cheaper there -- most vaccines can be taken months in advance. |

Typhoid. Hep A & Hep B.
That's all I would recommend for a 15 day trip. Additionally, have some ciproflaxin and metronizidole on hand for bacteria and amoebic stomach infections. |
