Question Which type of travel insurance???

My husband and I are travelling to India for one month, mid September to mid October 2012. We have the first few nights accommodation booked in Delhi then Agra, but are just going to book ahead as we are moving on to another destination. We plan to travel around India.

Which type of insurance do we need? Backpackers or single trip or multi-trip? Confused! The most important things to us are medical and repatriation cover.

Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks,

The Wilsons xx

You need Worldwide cover, either annual or single trip as long as it covers you for the entire period from leaving home to getting back again. Try a comparison site such as Moneysupermarket.com.

If you are planning to "wing it" as far as travel is concerned do you know about how the Foreign Tourist Quota (FTQ) works on the trains?
The inconvenience caused is deeply regretted.

In addition to Dave's advice, the obvious one is to check if any of your current insurance providers also offer travel insurance. (And a discounted premium because you're such a good customer).

For example, my health insurer provided discounted travel insurance, and discounted vaccinations through one of their travellers medical clinics.
