Hello! I know there are a lot of posts about the mosquitos but I have not found the answer to this...
Do I need to buy a mosquito net, or are they provided by hotels/guest houses for you? Should I have one with me when I arrive in India, or can I buy one in Delhi? Where in Delhi? Also, I read a lot of "names" Good Knight, Electric zappers, Alrco, Aerogard... Can I get those things in India? What is the best thing to use at night in your bedroom...? Thanks! |

Mosquito net you can buy in Pahargunj bazar.
Electric devices like All-out anad Good Knight are available at general stores and chemist shops. In the bed-room you can use an electric plug in device, a coil like "Tortoise" which is burnt to repel the insects with the smoke, as well as creams applied to the skin, such as Odomos. |

Thank You Sanjay! You guys are the best!
Can I use the coil "Tortoise" even if I keep the windows closed, or will I get sick from the smoke an d be in even worse shape? Also, how much can I expect to pay for a mosquito net? Can I get by without it in February/March in Delhi, Rajasthan, Varanasi, or do I really need to carry one with me? This is my first trip to India, I am a woman traveling alone, and I am apprehensive about getting sick... Thanks again... |

It's a very small box, keep it with you, use it if you find mossies buzzing around.
In a closed room, the smoke has a peculiar smell, if u can get used to it, so be it. With the window open, its better if the window has a screen, so the insects will not fly in. There are electric plug in devices with a thermal pad, and there are those that vaporize a liquid. See which one works best for you. |

We've used the good knight appliance (the silver mat type) over the past two weeks and they work great. The smell i reasonably nice, so it even covers smells in a hotelroom that are less attractive.
