Where is AyurVeda good in India?
From massage, to panchkarma to so much more there is in AyurVeda inside and outside of India. Different ways and prices? Can anyone comment on their experiences of any AyurVeda treatments and recommend the good places to go to?

KERALA is the best place to go, in many people I've talked to's opinion... and in mine also! LOL, but I've only been to one Ayurvedic place. About an hour outside Trivendrum, in the jungle, and on the beach (a BEAUTIFUL locale), an incredible resort called Somatheeram.
I liked it very much. The treatments were kind of uncomfortable at times though. But it was okay. I was only 21 when I was there, so I had no REAL health ills, just more there for the experience, and with my mother. So yeah, it was cool. They tell you what you should be eating, but you're free to eat what you want, oh and smoke. I was there in the rainy season (there was no rain at all, but the ocean was ferocious) so swimming was an impossibility. This resort has free yoga lessons; daily consultations and treatments... great rooms with phones, and you can ask for a tv. It was very relaxing! I recommend it. I think they have a website. |

try any of the established ayurveda hospitals . there will be less of the typical tourist frills and "rooms with a view", but in my opinion, they are the best places to go to for the quality of the treatment. Kottakkal Arya Vaidya Sala for example.
ok, if you are ljust looking for a short massage and the ayurveda "feel", then any of those innumerable pop joints would be ok. |

kerala
Thank you everyone for your information. It appears that Kerala is the place to be in for AyurVedic treatment, and preferably at a decent hospital. Am myself diving into books about AyurVeda for years and it deserves much respect and recognition. Its taking me time to get to India from the Netherlands. But when I am in Kerala, and if I get a chance to experience one of the treatments ... massage, shirodhara, or else pancha karma! .... then will relate my experience on this thread. It takes a very trusting and open heart to receive an AyurVedic treatment (if one can call it that).
I wonder how much it costs ................... |
