Most vegtables and fruits can be peeled and washed so it doesn't really present too much difficulty!!
The one to watch in my experience is grapes make sure you wash them thoroughly with mineral water!! The fact that many dangerous pesticides are used in India is an unavoidable fact of life but I think the risks are minimal for a visitor to India and you have to eat so there isn't much choice in the matter!! The dangers of pesticedes are mainly long term anyway!! Other than that the veggies and fruits will be amongst the tastiest you've ever tasted and of course not everyone uses pesticides!! Wellcome to the future. They spray the food with cemicals all over this globe... Something you have to live with. Biodynamic/Organic etc. Exist in India. Have seen speciall Organic/Biodynamic Restourants in Palolem and Rishekesh. Gennerally you will be eating helthyer food in India than in the west without having to make an effort for it.

I know of some farmers who irrigate their crops with industrial waste which includes all types of crap you would not want to go near. |
