Question Weight Gain in India

I've always had difficulty in maintaining my ideal weight due to having a ferocious metabolism (runs in the family). I'm almost 6' and struggle to stay around 60/61 kg no matter what I eat, I should ideally be around 64/65 kg.....

What are the indian foods I can stuff my face with that'll fatten me up??!!

Other than:

Lassi's
Indian sweets
Naan and roti (with lots of butter)

With the usual travel itinerary, general stress of travelling through India and bout of delhi belly I always find I lose more than I want to and end up looking ragged and scrawny which I just hate.

foods that are building in nature, those that are predominately composed of earth and water.

whole dairy products are one of the best things to add weight. the fat is rich and building. nuts are rich in healthy fat too.

Try eating bananas for a change. They are cheap, healthy, plenty available anywhere you go and are generally supposed to help put on weight if you are very thin!!! Also good for delhi belly!!!

Cheers,
Aadil.

P.S.: So did you get your BA tickets? And someone to go with?

All those chips and wafers of the packaged variety might help? The only problem is where to throw the foil after eating the contents? I tend to keep them in a bag and throw them when I find a dustbin or in my hotel room.

Indiamad, I'll have to try aloo baji the next time I'm in India! For the time being, I have kobi keema for breakfast in Germany - just can't make those puris like they do in Delhi! And the last thing I want is to gain weight with my sedentary life here.

Yeah, I love kulfi!!

On another note, I've always wondered where the word 'desi' comes from?

The root (des) means country, as in nation.

You're going to be so active and stressed and your body is going to be so new to its environment that weight-gain is almost a non issue in India.

one always puts on weight around here hmm that is if they are not fussy and love expermienting with food! Its simple they eat at least 3 meals a day and in between they have afternoon tea and biscuits etc. You're bound to put on a few kgs if you just follow their lead!:0
