Thanks for all the advise.
I know most of it, the point I was trying to make, is that some of us (very few I think) just don't feel we need fluids or find them difficult to drink (volume wise), I've always consumed very little fluids, so I was thinking that my body would be used to that, and any raise in the volume of fluids needed when traveling would be relitive to my normal fluid consumption. I was wrong, but at the same time, I never had problems on my other 7 trips to Asia. Quote:
I've still not been to the doctors about it, and in all likelyhood, I'll not go soon, me and doctors just don't get along, they keep trying to tell me things that are good for my heath. ![]()

So,
You can face the unfathomable mysteries of the Indian railways, (not to mention the unmentionable horrors), but you can't face one eensy teensy harmless white-coated doctor? Hmmm. |

Whenever my wife goes to her doctor, whatever the complaint --- he always tells her that she doesn't drink enough water!
She came to see my doctor the other day, who sent her for all kinds of tests, which she hated, and which left her vowing she'd never touch western medicine ever again!

Trouble is, though, my imagination tells me that the possible consequences of not seeing the doctor could be so much worse ...
(Doesn't work with me and dentists, for some reason - I just think, "I can get patronised for free if I go into Marks & Spencer, why should I pay £60+ for the privilege?") (um, er, I am thinking of one particular dentist-I-have-met, not all dentists - sorry for the stereotyping, generalising utter drivelling nonsense I seem to be talking ...) I read something recently about the hydration myth but can't find it now. Suffice to say, what Peak said earlier.
There's a useful article here: http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases...0809071640.htm In which a doctor concludes that the 8 glasses-a-day rule is a myth (for sedentary people in cooler climates), and that coffee, tea and even beer (the latter in small amounts) are fine as hydrators. It also states that dark urine always indicating dehydration is a myth.

But the doctor in India said it was "No Problem".
Seriously though, he really did say that it wasn't a problem and he didn't seem concerned about it. I've also had no indication that there may be something wrong, I'd go to the doc if I had any worries, but I'll probibly just wait till I need to go for another reason, then mention it. |

Summer time temperatures in my adopted home country are very often in the 40c plus bracket for a few months. As a consequence of this i have come to the realisation that headaches are often best treated by drinking water instead of taking pills. It is a good idea ,when one has a headache, to drink a couple of glasses of water and if the ache persists after 10 or 15 minutes to resort to medication.

There is even some argument about this, related to people overdoing their water intake. Apparently drinking too much can also be harmful, but we are talking about the extreme end of the exercise / intake spectrum here. |
