Water purification

Hi again,
I read on internet that one can also purify water with Betadine.
I have checked at my local pharmacy and they only sell Betadine (10% proidone - iodine) for external usage.
The auxiliary components are: potassium iodit, glycerol, citronic acid, nonoxynol 9, di-Na hydrogenphosphat, Na-hydroxid, purifyed water.

Has anyone any experience with it / can advice me?

I'd just as soon use pure iodine as put that other stuff inside me.

Nonoxynol is a spermicide - I can`t see the need for that if the water is to be used as drinking water.

Glycerol is a standard salve/lotion base , Na-hydroxid is a highly alkaline solution (the same stuff that is used to rinse clogged drains) and citronic acid is the the technical name/form of lemon juice.

It doesn`t sound too appetizing to me...
