I never told that codeine is banned, but it is banned in the tablet form.
It is available as cough-syrups and some people is taking it for a shot

Hey Feliz,
I got 8 tablets for 25 rupees in Thiruvanathpuram (Trivandrum) without prescription. I used it sometimes for long nights in trains to sleep well....

Exactly. And it looks stupid too if you dont actually have any knowledge. He/She's correct about the adictive potential, BUT you cant ( technically ) die of lets say an overdose or so, like you can from barbiturates. Thing is Valium (diazepam) is not a barbiturate, but a benzodiazepine.

I dont see any problem in using them for treatment of flight anxiety or to get a good night sleep on a busy bus, although it surely is better to stay sober in both cases.

Just my 2 paise

Sleep deprived

After being sleep deprived for about 3 nights due to staying in crappy hotels with crappy beds I asked a pharmacist for some sleeping tablets, ANY sort of sleeping tablets - just a couple to get me by, well he was adamant that they were "very very bad for you, no, no, not good, sorry madam" and all that crap with a tut tut shake of the head. After trying to convince him of why I needed them he still wouldn't budge and I was almost in tears and wanted to strangle him, so I tried a couple more pharmacies and they all gave me the same reaction. Guess I'll need a script next time.
