I'm alive and well!! :-)
Hey folks! Thanks so much for your advice and concern. Sorry for not reporting back sooner but I just haven't had a chance to get to the internet. Believe it or not my rash turned out to be chicken pox!! (and there was me thinking I had some horrible tropical affliction!). Of all the things I thought I might get in India that wasn't one of them! It did mean going back to Jodhpur though to get a reliable diagnosis! I think my symptoms confused them because the spots didn't itch. That said, I've since discovered I have a parasite infection too (nice!). All in all it's taken 4 doctors in several different cities to reach this conclusion. Basically, you really don't want to get sick outside of the main cities in India!!
Anyway, I'm feeling more-or-less fine now. Thanks again! :-) |

Look on the bright side - if you had to get a chicken ailment - better than pox than that other one that's starting to go around! Stay safe!

Dear Friend,
Have you checked your bedding for bed bugs? They are small brown bugs that feed on human blood. They will burrow into the crevices of mattresses and in the cracks of the walls. Signs could include tiny black spots on the mattresses, scales that the bugs have shed (easy to notice), bloody tiny spots on linens or walls. The hallmark of bed bugs on the person is that they feed in a straight line on the body, folllowing a blood vein. So, if you have bite marks that follow a straight pattern, such as up the leg, you probably have slept with the critters unknowingly. Pull up all your bedding and check for them hiding in the dark. They can live for a year without "feasting" until another warm body shows up. The only defense at this point would be to destroy the bedding, move to a new hotel, and get ointment for the itching. It can leave permanent scarring. The critters can follow you home in your lugguage. If in a hotel, report it to the management and show them the evidence. BedBugs were practically eradicated in the western countries back in the 1950's. Now with global travel,, they are showing up in the developing countries again. Good luck. Lindakka |

Actually, quite not true. You have it everywhere whether it's developed or developing country
