Urgent! Need good doctor in Jaisalmir!
Does anyone know of a good/reputable doctor/clinic in Jaisalmir?? I saw a doctor this morning and he was awful! I am covered in sores and blisters of unknown origin. The doctor didn't really know what it was but insisted it was an allergy and gave me injections of steroids and anti-histamine. My blood count showed an abnormal increase in 'eosinophil' which meant nothing to me at the time but having now had the chance to look it up on the net it says that it is highly indicative of parasitic infection (which would make more sense). IIf it IS a parasite (ie. WORMS) how treatable is it? God, I hope this disgusting rash goes away!
Please someone let me know where I can seek proper medical help! Thank you! :-) |

Youch! Sounds painful! Don't know of any Dr's in Jaisalmer but somebody may be along soon. I would try your consulate for some possible quick direction.
Are these Blisters Camel related in anyway/location? Alot of people get a allergic reaction to them Critters either by Chafing or by simple proximity. Best of Luck .... soon!

In this situation, the best bet is to use the government hospital in Jaiselmer. It is on your right if you are coming out of the fort, through the bazar and going towards the 'Chatris' on the hill top.
if this does not work then, I guess the best bet would be to get yourself to Jodhpur or Jaipur. If you choose Jaipur, I've doctors in my family in Jaipur and I'll ask them to help you out. All the best

Away from the big cities, if you need a reputable doctor, ask at the best hotel, or ask a wealthy businessman - they will all be able to help you. Railway stations also keep lists of doctors in the area.
Otherwise, as mentioned above, ring your Embassy, or another European or US one - they all keep lists of reputable doctors and dentists. Tim in Ireland.

Mercedes, if it really is a parasite it's not very difficult to get rid of them (one friend of mine got parasites in India too). But may be you'll have to stay a few days in bed... and your booty might itch like hell...

But esinophils are also seen as a response to allergic reactions, especially extensive skin reactions--and that is what the Dr treated you for...... Are you better after the steroid injection? Don't freak yourself out too much about parasites. Indian Drs are really really good at recognizing those! Call your embassy for Dr referral....and keep us posted.

I cannot explain the kind of disgusting skin allergy/Infection I had (where I had) but someone suggested me the skin cream "Tigboderm" and It cured me with visible results after one application. You will get it around Rs 25-30 and Its well worth it. Use It for any skin problem and It will work wonders for you.

It is good to hear that you are getting better. We were all worried.

mea culpa
Mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa.
You are right, and I misread #10. This really is a very shameful senior moment for me. I wish mercedes10 would get back to us and let us know how she is - hopefully my misread is correct and she is better... I am terribly sorry for the confusion I caused. hfot Last edited by hfot2 : Mar 6th, 2006 at 20:44. Reason: change after note above appeared before I submitted this |
