sorry if that questions wasnt a nice one....but completely relevant if youve done much travellling in se asia....many a time i was binless....
since i never came up with any bright ideas other than carrying around my used gear until i could dispose of it....(not my favourite past time, let me tell you) and this is a travellers forum i thought someone might have a system or story..... i have come up with my own personal environmentally friendly practice for that time of the month but it is not conducive to travelling at all... hence the question.... |

in India there is an abudance of garbage disposal places... you won't have to carry it around!
you might have a problem with environmental (un)friendliness, though...

Suprised you haven't gotten more answers since we talk alot about peeing and pooping and eating one's own boogers on this forum.
This is a real problem. One rarely finds a wastebasket in the "toilets" when you are out between stations--well ,you are lucky to find a real restroom at all! And often the water in those toilets doesn't even work. Take some small plastic baggies for those times when you might find yourself in an awkward spot. Then just leave it on the floor in a corner of the room if there is no bin. The sweeper who comes in to clean the toilet will not have expected you to take it with you. Best of all for short term solution if you are on the pill--keep taking them through your off week. Then you have at least two months without having to deal with the issue. Sanitary napkins, panty shield and tampons are widely available. Some villagers and very traditional women use their own homemade system of rags and such. Very eco-friendly, but they aren't often traveling throughout the sub-continent hopping on and off trains and busses far from home.
