| A good friend of ours -- a very wealthy gent who lives in Delhi -- just reported that his wife and two young children are very ill and that typhoid fever is suspected. Has anyone heard about typhoid fever being a problem in India, and would it be advisable for us to be vaccinated for it? I don't recall if I've ever been vaccinated for that -- I have a call in to my doctor and I hope to find out tomorrow. (We'll be in India for most of November.) Thanks, Brad | |

| Highly recommended since you can get it from infected water & food - just got my booster(every 3 years I believe) a few weeks ago. The not so really good news is that the vaccine only protects about 70 out of every 100 people who receive it. I'll take the 70% chance for immunity though. Talk to your DR. first though - he/she knows best. ![]()

| Typhoid, though much rarer now, is not unheard of. My mother got it in Delhi two years ago.

| Its a very strong recommend. A friend had it and asked to be suffocated. The vaccine is so cheap and easy, available as a pill.. | |

| Typhoid cases are being reported in Delhi. Vaccination is recommended. Since it mostly comes from contaminated water it is advisable to drink only bottled water from reputed vendors. The so called filtered water may not be very safe always. | |
