Travelling with 1.5 year old to Delhi-Agra-Shimla-Manali

Hi friends,

I will be travelling to Delhi,Agra,Jaipur,Shimla,Manal i and chandigarh this month (August) end.It will be a 14 day trip.I am travelling from Bangalore. We are flying to/from Bangalore to Delhi.

From Delhi,I will be covering the entire journey in a cab, except for Delhi-Shimla (via Kalka) and Chandigarh to Delhi route which I do in a train.

I would need your suggestion on the food for my infant (1.5 year old baby girl) during this journey , since we don't want to feed her from the hotel .
and also other suggestions to keep her good.

Thanks,

  • Keep a small electric kettle to heat water to whip up quick cereals on demand.
  • Small microwavable bowl with measured cereal and a flask for hot water, to carry during the sight seeing tours
  • In an eventuality of no food, stick to fruits like bananas and oranges or wheat cookies.
  • Stay clear from any dairy product from any shop or hotel, no matter how hygienic it might appear.
  • When in a hotel, anything you feed her, make sure it’s fresh and straight from the fire, like hot idlis or rotis but as far as possible, avoid it
  • Keep a few Gerber cans for contingency sake.
  • Carry Tylenol or Crocin bottle and other basic medicines as prescribed by the doctor.
  • Carry ample clothing and nappies (or make sure get them there)
  • If she is on bottle feed, carry the disposable bottle liners.
  • Carry a mosquito repellent, sometimes hotels don’t provide them...
  • Carry her favorite toy along... and the camera to capture her smile.... Have a good trip!!
This is all I can think of as of now.... If I can remember anything more, shall add...

Would you advise to carry some packs of special milk which they say will be good for 10-15 days?

You mean the small pasteurized tetra packs, like the ones marketed by nestle or amul?!! Yeah, why not. Carry a few, don't get paranoid about the numbers, I am sure these will be available there too. They have a shelf life of 3-6 months, so I don't see any problem. If your daughter doesn't finish them, you can brew your coffee in the hotel room using the hot water from the kettle Ahh..there I go on useless saving tip

I forgot to mention, carry a small tube/bottle of nappy rash cream. Prolonged use of diapers is not very good for the child's sensitive skin. And also carry enuf sterlized disposable spoons, they are quite handy to feed off hand...literally!!
