Travelinsurance covering

Hi. I was just wondering, as for example it is said that Malaria can occur even one year after the mosquitobite, how does the travelinsurance cover that kind of cases. I mean, when you're back at home, if you need medical help for a reason that is related to your travelling, will the insurance cover the cost?

You will get better value for money with travel insurance and best peace of mind if you just consider getting back from holiday without problems or with all possible unfortunate events covered.

If you start to worry about ongoing liabilities etc after your holiday is finished then you really aren't concentrating on the travel experience itself somehow and deserve to endure the months of worry about malaria.

Or maybe you are just another troll on here.

Hmmm.... interesting! I don't know the answer to that. I would very much doubt though that your insurance would cover you. I don't know where you live, but wont your medical treatment at home be taken care of by the State? or if you're somewhere where you need to pay, don't you have a medical insurance in your home country?

Send a message via Yahoo to indira
The insurance will be covered only on dates mentioned on your travel policy...

Let me ask the opposite way also.
This I know happened to an Indian tourist visiting Scandinavia.
In the end of his trip something started troubling his foot, but because he was running out of time and short of money, he didn't go to a doctor. Hoped it would go by. Back in India, the foot is still troubling him. When he goes to the doctor, can't he really make any use of his travelinsurance in this case?

Thank you for your kind words, Ammadas.

I don't have medical coverage back home, and neither does he.
So I guess I should get one more insurance then.. Damn.

We used to buy an travel insurence here in The Netherlands that covered us for upto 30,000 (guilders) of health care for two weeks after we arrived home, the cost wasn't prohibitve as I recall and you could choose for more coverage if you so wished!
Ask an insurence broker if this kind of policy is available in your country!

By the way guys this is a fact of life for many, not simply worrying too much about the future!
When I go away for an extended period I have stepped out of the Dutch medical insurence cover! I cannnot retain this coverage whilst away as you have to have an employer or be on some kind of benefit to stay in the Ziekenfonds (health insurence scheme), I have neither whilst away so I'm no longer covered for health costs until I'm home and gainfully employed or have a benfit being paid to me.
So any health costs incurred in this time ar down to me. So the question of being covered for this is a practical one and not a case of worrying too much! A bout of Malaria and the subsequent hopsital bills could really dent the finances, if not put you into serious debt!

Read the small print.

It is no good asking others what your small print says: we can't see it.

Thanks. I'd definitely read the small prints, if I had them.
