Travel Insurance

Can anyone please recommend any travel insurance companies that will insure for a single trip duration over 100 days. This will be for a one way trip departing from the UK and arriving in Australia approx. 3 mths later. Am finding it difficult to find any companies that will insure for trips that are longer than 60 days.

Thanks in advance.

What you need to ask for is longstay travel insurance. We usually insure with Worldwide

They were recommended to us by someone who travels a lot for ABTA. Don't really know how good they are as we have never had to file a claim!

another UK insurance question

any more UK based travel insurance co's ppl use? also, what is it "travelling against Foreign Office advice" that may invalidate the insurance policy?

would travelling to areas about which the FCO says "avoid all but essential travel" be considered travelling against the FCO advice?

I used Columbus Direct for my last trip - fortunately didn't have occasion to claim on it so can't vouch for much other than the purchase process. You can get a quote online and they're at least 10% cheaper than anywhere else I've looked at.

Try www.belldirect.co.uk

In same position - but I.m having problems getting a policy to cover any single items of over say £100.

I need to cover a laptop & pro camera £1000 / £500 on long stay..

laptop insurance

butterball, i think i have seen STA website offers "single electonic item" insurance - did you check them? ( i think a free one item up to GBP1,000
if you take up their standard or premium policy): http://www.statravel.co.uk/insurance.asp

overall they are not the cheapest though...

get good marks from Which magazine. I have found they are very competitive with premiums.

"all but essential travel"

thanks!! will try them also. my problem now is not saving 5 quid on my insurance premium, but all insurance co's that i contacted do not provide cover (but sell the policy ) if the FCO advises against "all but essential travel" to the area... which is where i am going.

funny, the FCO advice ends like this "we advise you to take comprehensive travel and medical insurance before travelling in these areas".

No probs. I booked using accomplish and they had a list of countries they did cover for and Pakistan and India where I was going were on there. At that time they did not have anything about declining cover if the FCO advised against going to a particular country.

Where are you going ?

going to Pakistan: Gilgit and Hunza districts, NWFP etc mentioned on FCO site. i called them, they are checking now. normally the insurance co wouldn't say they do not cover but there is a small print... i have received a few negative replies already from other co's - no point in buying the cover if most of my travel is not covered in fact, i have never bought a travel insurance before... i decided I am a responsible adult now and will start buying insurance

booked with Alan D's company (WorldWide), which will cover areas that i'll be travelling to, cheaper than STA (STA'll cover almost everything ) and, most importantly, have corteous and knowledgeable staff - i was not so lucky with Accomplishtravel
