Just thought I'd pass on a tip: I have necessary medicines that I am supposed to keep refridgerated - have found a range of Frio wallets that keep whatever you put in them cool, with no need of a fridge or ice. All you do is immerse them for a few minutes in cold water, and the crystals in the lining swell and go cold - lasts for a few days and then you just immerse the wallet again. Genius - and not expensive. Got mine from www.boots.com - just search on "frio" - they come in different sizes and are sold as good for keeping insulin cold, but obviously you could use them for any medicine.

This is interesting. I took a look at the producers web page, and it seems that they found a practical (not wet) way to implement evaporation cooling.
Did you measure temperatures differences by any chance?

No - I just got it last night through the post so haven't tried it out yet, but it certainly solves the problem of trying to find ice / a fridge when on the move. They also do drinks coolers using the same principle
