Lies, damned lies,.....

Although the article in question is titled "Tobacco kills 50 Indians every hour" the very first sentence states that it is cancer which kills the 50 every hour and not necessarily the ones alleged to be caused by tobacco since a Dr is quoted as claiming that alcohol causes a selection.
Actually the whole article is spurious rubbish and may be accurate and pertinent enough to be published by Yahoo (but then, what isn't?) but 'Lancet' would bin it at the first sentence.

Many thanks to Diana and Janice - having a positive perspective towards yourself and others is, I believe, a force of Nature. On that note, I tip my hat to you Buck. Job well done. As an aside, I base 90% of my success on the realization that I. Was. Done. Smoking (period). There is the argument that nicotine is as addictive as heroin. I will now butcher a Mark Twain quote - "Quiting smoking is one of the easiest things to do. I've done it a thousand times".

Rama, there is nothing to comprehend about it..when you belong to a country which offered the Decimal system to world, if 99% people are ignorant of other systems, that are actually not used in science OR technology OR economics...I am not surprised..

Hmmm i might have contributed......brought like 10 rolls of American chewing tobacco with me which the locals just loved more than anything. Couldn't get enough of the stuff.

Mod note:

In some countries, yes may mean yes, in others it may mean no. In the countries in which it means no, no may mean yes.

It doesn't matter what system we use, as long as we agree on it.

To use a different system, one that is foreign to this site, is probably as confusing to the Belgians and the Germans among us as it is to the Brits and Indians.

Any further complaints about this will be deleted.

This is in todays New York Post "Weird But True" section.

A lifelong London smoker celebrated her 100th birthday with her 170,000th cigarette.
Winnie Langley began her habit when she was 7 years old, a few weeks after the outbreak of World War 1.
Langley has maintained a five-cig-a-day habit ever since and vows to continue.
