Time-Frame for Vaccinations

I have an appt with a county health service to get vaccinations, but they couldn't get me in until 3 weeks before I leave for India. Is this too late? Or is it a case of "better late than never"? I also made an appt for 6 weeks before I go (tomorrow, actually) with a private health care facility, but of course they are charging me an arm and a leg. Is it better to pay more and get the shots way ahead of time or save money but take the risk of getting them too late? Either way it's quite a bit of money so any advice is appreciated!

I'm pretty sure 3 weeks will be fine, even if theres one which might require a few days apart.
Now once you've started you'll only need boosters for most every few years,,,,,,,,

I'm leaving in a fortnight and I've just had my jabs today at my GP's surgery. They advised that the proximity of travel was no problem and I'd be covered. I had HepA, Typhoid, Diphtheria, Tetanus and Polio jabs; thankfully in only two needles.
As seventies'hippy said, I've been advised to come back for a booster in 12 months time then I'm covered for 3 -10 years.
