those insect bite clicker things...
anyone had any experience of those clicker things that stop insect bites itching?
I don't expect I'll be hanging around swampy places before I go, so won't be able to see how effective it is. |

Yes. The clicker hurts too (only briefly, I must say) and although it seemed to give instant relief the itching soon came back!
I've just started to use Anthisan and it's brilliant. Instant end to itching - and it doesn't return. ![]() |

The clicky thing is as good as scratching, without causing the inflamation. It's worth having. Get the bigger one; it works better.
Another gadget: Aspiven. It is like a reverse syringe. You put it over the bite, push down the plunger and it sucks. Boots (UK pharmacy chain) sell it for £15 or something. The 99p shop has a cheap imitation on sale at the moment ...for 99p!

Bought my "clikki" thing is Asda in the UK for about £5 approx 4 years ago and would not be without it. Not only for mossies (I do not let them bite me - take megga precautions) but for the insect that sprays their stuff on you that gives a big bleb - give it 5 clicks and the pain goes away - honestly.
I have one that I wear in a little bag - round my neck - like a necklace. Would not be without it. People have laughed at me when I have used it but then used it on them and they are suprised. Just like the clikkie gas lighter but in a smaller form. I live in Spain and use another one there for the same "blebby" insects. Also have one of the plungers - the belt and bracers girl I am. |

I bought a thing that heats the bite, I forget the name now, something like a theramin (yes, I know; that is an electronic musican instrument...), therapik? maybe. ANyway, I heard about it here on IM, and being a glutton for gadgets...
It does sometimes work quite well, although it can turn the bite into a blister (overuse, maybe) but I found holding a hot glass of tea against the bite to be almost as good. By the way: small gadget that emits a high pitched noise that is supposed to repel mossies: completely, utterly useless ![]() |
