A sweet brandy sounds delicious --- but regrettably alcohol tends to make me feel ill rather than good, so I mostly avoid it.
My boring-old-fart take on this is that it is a poison, and why give your body more work to do when it is sick already. But I remember my smoking days --- and struggling to manage a few every day even with bronchitis! So I'm not holding up my life as an example to anyone else! ![]()

I've found brandy to cure all sorts of evils. When I was in school, there was a bully who picked on me mercilessly. After some thinking, I gave him a bottle of brandy as a peace offering. Problem solved. Infact, I'm convinced this whole Osama-Bush thing would completely go away if the two of them just sat down over a bottle of brandy.

I don't know whether it's just me, but when I get Delhi Belly, I never feel pain? I just really need to go to the toilet, and that's it. When I have an upset stomach, I just drink some cold milk, and it goes away? Does this happen to everyone, or is it just me? I guess one way to kill every living bug inside of you is Bacardi 151. ![]()

I thought Bush was an ex heavy drinker? And persistent rumours about hard drug use, too.
Thats one thing Osama and he could do, in Afghanistan. Your poppy field, or mine? Or, my poppy can beat your papa. |

Just had to revive this old thread.
After 3 weeks of throwing caution to the wind in Goa, eating food from street vendors and market stalls, asking for ice in my drinks and eating fruit from the beach sellers -- the inevitable happened. My husband was dispatched to the local chemist for the necessary and instructed to bring back some Honeybee as well. Take a large dose every two hours, and all the agonising cramps just disappear like magic - better than any conventional pain killer I have ever taken. It only took 24 hours to pass through my system and I slept through most of them. Marvellous Stuff. |

Very helpful thread. Thank you. Do you think it's possible that the brandy is a prophylactic? Maybe I should just start drinking the moment I arrive and stay on the safe side, eh?
P.S. "Oater" LOL. We called them "Dusters"
