| The Malaria Question Revisited In Jaipur right now and had need to have a Doctor come to my room for an unrelated issue. While he was here I quizzed him about the Malaria thing: should I take the pills I brought with me or not? There ARE mosquitos in my room and I was getting a little concerned because I had decided NOT to take the pills. Here's what he told me: Chances of getting Malaria are close to NIL in Jaipur. To be infected, those little critters would have to bite someone else with Malaria and then bite me. Seeing as the Malaria rate here is very very low, the chances of that happening are close to zero. After all there are lots of folks who are sleeping out on the streets here with their young children and they obvioulsly don't have access to pills. Even so, the case rate is almost nil. He said that unless the Malaria rate in any given city is high enough to warrant news attention, don't worry about it. So I won't. For what it's worth, that's what the fine doc told this traveller. |

| Just one difference springs to mind,,,,,,,,,, Most of those people sleeping on the street are of the brown skin variety, and maybr the mossie will ignore them, but a bite of fresh white/pink well, that could be a different story,,,,,,,,,,,,,, |
