Talking The ear cleaner

Today i was walking around connaught place and was aprouched by a very interesting guy.

this guy cleans ears!

he showed me a book which looked very old and used with lots of comments in every language in it.
well, at first he wanted 800Rupies!!! from me for cleaning my ears. he even showed me a comment from a german guy who wrote that he payed the 800.
but after about 10 minutes and two short samples on his side to show me how dirty my ears where i had him down at 100, which still is a bit, but anyway.
it was an interesting experience having my ears cleaned. he did it very smooth and belive me or not, i have the impression that i hear better now

I can't believe people let a perfect stranger stick a metal instrument into their ear canal on the streets of India! Your doctor at home wouldn't even do this--he or she would use a heavy syringe of water to flush out your ears, rather than risk tearing the tissue or puncturing your eardrum!

....Did you run into his buddy? You know, the guy who just happens to be right there to shine your shoes the moment a big gob of sh*t appeared on the top of your shoe???

That happened to me in New Dehli! .....no ear cleaners though.

Hey lobo,,,,,,,,,
Yeah those guys on Anjuna have been there for 30 yrs,,,,,,,,,,,,
How they survive amazes me, just stand to one side & watch em working, sidling up to unsuspecting tourists, sort of saying " you've got whatever on/in your ears, quick flash of an instrument,
bom shankar, they produce some vasiline type gunge,,,,,, Yuk, no way,,,,,,,,,

freemanx,
Sounds like you was lucky, ear infections & perforations are'nt uncommon

HEy GUYS!!! Please be careful!!! - especially towards evening or dusk - or when you are alone in a park

There have been some incidents of these guys threatening to burst your eardrums for a sum of money etc.

it`s the same like with everything in life.
i just follow my heart and the feeling i have toward the thing.
if i have a good, positiv feeling i go for it, if not i let it be

if i just would have done this when i was younger!

life`s great! go for it!

HAHAHAHHA, I seen this trick too, but when I saw it the Ear Cleaners were pulling little stones and crap out the ear for added authenticity.

Now way would I let the spike merchant stick anything down my ear. Or let the filthy cloth near it either.

wouldn't let Ed do it....

Its supposed to be a great thing when its done right: still a bit too dicey for me.
Ed was all gung-ho to give this guy a try, but I pitched a wifely fit.
Would agree with Merchant....though I'm still curious to hear from people who did.
Picture was taken in the Fort area of Mumbai at around 8 in the morning on a Sunday, as we took our morning stroll.

When the Ear Cleaner got me, it felt like my brain was being pulled out through my ear. I guess it worked because I did have better hearing, much like when ear-candling. I had my doubts about both, but both worked for me.

I was mocked by the ear cleaners in anjuna flea market because one of them got quite near me and waved his wand of terror at me saying "dirt ear, dirt ear".
"NOOOOOOO" I screeched and he walked of to his friends mimicking my "Nooooo" and they were laughing.
They do cause me fear +2!!!
