Red face Sun protection & insect repellent - daft question

Apologies is this is one of those really stupid questions that anyone with an IQ of 3 could work out for themselves , but when using sun protection and insect repellent, does it matter which goes on top?

The IMMIE Award (that is, India Mike's version of Nobel Peace Prize/Grammy/Oscar) to the genius who invents a combination Mosquito-repellent and #330 sunblock cream....! I will personally wash the feet of said person. Okay, maybe that's not enough of an incentive....

You can buy it from Boots..... http://www.boots.com/shop/product_enlarge.jsp?productid= 1043568&classificationid=10278 56&slmRefer=000&imageid=1

Though how effective a 'gentle effective, odourless insect repellent' is I wouldn't like to guess....

For the sun cream/insect repellant question - sunblock creates a barrier, whereas insect repellant needs to waft the lovely smell of deet into the air. So if you put insect repellant on first the sun block creates a barrier between it and the air, and therefore repellant doesn't work. Or so I'm lead to believe.

cheers

Thanks for responses. I had a vague notion it MIGHT be that way round, but wasn't quite sure whether there was a really technical answer involving the juxtaposition of chemical compounds blah blah blah

...and you need to reapply both after swimming! Or even sweating a lot!

Some mossies bite in the day, including the ones that carry Dengue.

Some mossies bite in the night, especially dawn and dusk... they include the malaria carriers.

Some mossies haven't read any of the rules and just bite!

...Althought I seldom get bitten outside in the day.

The Australian Cancer Council has a great range of sunblocks - including one with a general broad-scale insect repellant. Not that it's much use to us here...

My feet are ready and waiting. In fact they are looking pretty scabby at the moment and in need of a good pumice!

There are many ranges of sun block with insect repellent. Especially good if you have kiddies... You can barely keep them still for 2mins... Imagine having to apply sun lotion and insect repellent separately and repeatedly.

I recommend u try SOLTAN or AVON.
