Sugarfree Probiotic Diabetic Delight Frozen Dessert
Here is something to look forward to. Really healthy ice cream in India.
Amul woos diabetics and obese with safe, new delicacies 16 January 2007 Mumbai: With a growing number of diabetics, and a burgeoning population of obese urban dwellers, the ice-cream industry in India is indeed worried about the 'melting' market for its products. According to the World Health organisation, of 1.5 billion overweight adults globally, 400 million live in India. The figure is expected to double over the next eight years. India is also the diabetes capital of the world, with 37 million diabetics. But leading producer of milk and indigenous dairy products, including ice cream, Amul, has decided to take on the 'battle of the bulge' by introducing a new range of 'sugar-free' and 'probiotic' products for diabetics, the obese and the health conscious. Great news for those of us who are diabetic and can't eat much in the way of Indian sweets. One bite of barfi and my sugar goes into the stratosphere...
Now how about a sugar-free jelebi? |

At Sindhi Sweets they have sugar free balls in this yellow milky stuff. Tastes good but what the yellow colouring is is a worry.

There is a great deal of research going on here for Stevia and in Mohali here there is research centre that is growing and producing it. Yes it may well be the next big cash crop and they are looking at it quite seriously as well as many other herbal options.
