shots,typoid and oral pills.

went to health clinic today and had all the appropriate shots for India apart from typoid. They no longer carry the vaccine only oral pills. They said that these pills are live culture -different than the shot and that they make people sick sometimes.Anyone have any experience with the oral pills for typoid. Also lonely planet and rough guide both state that typoid is mostly an issue during monsoon.I will be in rajasthan in march, should I worry about typoid?

Have first hand experience of the oral typhoid pills . . . felt a little flu-y, a little sick to my stomach/nauseous/etc for the four days. Over the years I've downsized my jabs and pills before India . . . typhoid is one I still do.

after reading how many people get sick from the oral typhoid pills, I must have strong stomach or something....

the worst that happened to me was feeling mildly queasy after the third pill for about a day, and that was it. took the fourth one, was totally fine.

No pronlem with the pills for all 3. Its a blessing if you have kids. Saw something that claimed it didn't have as long an effective period but can't prove that. Only way to go,,
