shots freakout!

Hi everyone,
I'm leaving for India and Myanmar in 3 weeks and haven't gotten any shots yet. I have an appointment in two days and must decide what to get.
This has been such an ordeal for me because I have a problem with the whole concept of vaccinations to begin with.

Anyway, it seems like I'd be an idiot to not get any...The clinic will only give me three at once....I'm thinking Hep A, tetanus, and either measles or typhoid ( my doctor said due to my age I'm probably not immune to measles they changed the vaccine for that). But, there is still polio and Hep B...What are the most important in your experience?

thanks

That all depends on who you talk to.

Some people say to get vaccinated for EVERYTHING! and others have gotten along fine without even one.

I got almost everything myself as I'm a tad paranoid

If you get only three at a time, I would suggest the Hep A, MMR (measles, mumps and rubella), and Tetanus-Diptheria *this one hurts like a mother!* You can choose to take the typhoid orally (4 pills taken every other day) That should cover most of your bases. Just my HO though~

The Hep shots may not take within that narrow timeframe. I know when I got the Hep A and B shots the boosters went on for six months to a year. Might be better to hold off on those and get the old 2 cc's of gamma globulin in the butt instead. The one you absolutely must have for India is tetanus. When you get there, look at a European graveyard sometime to see why. I think the Indians invented it to kill off firangs.

when I travell I mostly refresh my tetanus which is really important,
I always get my thypoid oral shots and cholera as well..
just in case of..
this year I came back from Laos,Cambodia,Vietnam,India once more
in cambodia I had some symptoms of filiarisis, elepanthitis,
like swollen ,I will not tell you
I always go to a doctor when I m back to get tested my blood, urine, stool and whatever
this year I was also tested for tubercolosis
but luckily the only desease I got was that I have to travell again and again..
some people might disagree with me...if you think too much about getting sick you will get sick...
so many travellers smoke..is it possible to get "sick" from smoking?
too many travellers take too much drugs, nothing against drugs in general,
but too many get "sick" from taking too much of them
maybe we all should believe more in reincarnation to enyoy life much more..
compared to all my trips and yourneys I ve ever done I can say
that I more often got sick here in my western world
it also very much depends on your lifestyle...

I wish you a healthy yourney!
