You've read somewhere that you must be vaccinated for yellow fever if you are coming from a yellow fever area!
Doesn't apply to most of us most of the time!

if there is a travel doctor in your area it may be worth talking to them. the whole subject of immunisation and malarials is one that generally sparks a long debate as there are as many points of view as there are travellers to india. my point of view is that there are some serious diseases around, what you should do is investigate the likelihood of catching one in the areas you are going to, and evaluate the seriousness of the disease with any known side effects of the immunisation or malarials (a particularly hot topic). i'm not aware of side effects from the hep and typhoid shots (although you may feel sick for 24 hours or so following the typhoid), and if you have all three hep shots you are immune for at least ten years. and given that you will have to pay for the stuff it might me worth shopping around various pharmaacies as i know that some of the people i travelled with paid less than i did. oh, and have a great trip. |

shots
Hey, we are just going today to have our second Hep B shot, will have the third one when we return. We had Hep A, Hep B, Polio, typhoid. Actually only I had the shot for Polio. All up it was around $400 for both of us, not too bad, and no ill side effects, except my partner had to lie down for a little while, apparently men sometimes have a hard time with injections??
Have fun... |

in addition, it is recommended that your polio and mmr (measles, mumps, rubella) is up to date. which, for most australians, is not a problem. |

Hep C? I would definitely go with Hep A and B but Hep C? There are only two ways you can get Hep c and both a risky behaviour. If your not planning on risky behaviour then don't worry about it. Hep A is a must.
