question about bugs, spider, rats and other little friends
As I am new to IM I have started reading forums (about the beauty of the country, people, diversity and all the good stuff) which convinced me about wanting to go to India (I deffinitely want to!) and now I got to the more worrying things like travelling/lodging companions.
I have to say that I have no problems with cows (I now know that I don't have to walk behind them), or dogs or frogs... My worries are about cockroaches/bedbugs/spiders/rats that might be in the vecinity of my sleeping area (during the day we can cohabitate, rather than me being histeric). It's just hard to turn off the lights and close my eyes and sleep thinking that they might crawl on me ![]() So now - finally - the question: Will I find a lot of them in budget guest houses and non AC trains (maybe it helps if I get upper berth ) in February (Agra, Jaipur, Mumbai, Varanasi)?feel free to make fun of me and post pics of gross things (at least I get used to them) and... Thanx

![]() This trip will be a wonderful opportunity for you to let you of those fears and trust small things to be themselves. That said, the bug/rat thing is somewhat more likely to be an issue in a 200 rs hotel room. If you are really obsessed with this, then stick to midrange properties and not rock bottom. And the highest class of train you can afford. Which berth will make no difference to the likelihood of an enounter with a roach, they are very versatile creatures, who by the way, have no real interest in you. Not keeping (or even eating) food in your room is also good idea for you. Have fun!!

).A few rats and some bugs hunting for my food I guess is a small price to pay. And rats are not even that bad... It's just cockroaches I'm not particularly fond of. I was just wishing that in this time of the year they were fewer (so the shock would be smaller). But hey... I'm trying to prepare myself... Any ideea how I can get myself a GEKO??? |

In all my train travels in India (hundreds of them so far... and loving each one), I may have encountered roaches maybe like 3 times.
So dont worry. Now, bed bugs in hotel rooms,, thats a different story. |
