Hellow doctor,
i'm here with moy caps problem. I was capped over 2 front upper jaw teeth wich were irregular in shape bout 6/7 months before. Moy gum was bit lifted up due to da placement n was told to massage it regularly to get it back in shape. But it hasn't come down yet, giving the look of the teeth different, n for few months i'm noticing da caps are moving slightly n at times i feel pain near da gum. I really don't knoe if these are natural, or i shud consult a good dentist in moy area! but i want to knoe, if these are not any good symtoms, do i need to remove the old ones n recap or is dere any oder option? i'll be looking forward for yor reply, thank you, God bless. Serpent... the doc hasn't been around on the board much for a while.
Internet opinions, even from qualified people, are no substitute for a dentist being able to see your teeth. Hope you get your teeth fixed ok.

does this tooth need pulled
Hi doc,
About a year ago I had a cavity, it was repaired with a stainless steel crown, now it hurts real bad, even to touch the tooth. And hot or cold makes it hurt real bad. Will it maybe die in another week, and stop hurting, or will it need to be pulled. I think one or two more days and I'll have it pulled. Can not afford a root canal here. Thanks |

Please see the post before yours.
Even as a non-medical person, it seems obvious to me that you need treatment, not the internet. Please, go get it seen to before that infection spreads. |

I may not be a medical man, but I've had plenty tooth abcesses... It won't heal. It may, if you are lucky, subside for a while, and a course of the right antibiotic should make that happen, but it'll be back.
One of my dentists swore by hot salty water as the first-line treatment... |

Could you provide me with the name and contact details of the dentist. If you use him, and you know the terrain, then he/she must be very competent. Thanks Tony |

Friends,
I have tooth decay in two of my tooths and I didn't go to any dentists for a certain period of time even after I knew this because of fear in doing those fillings and everything. Slowly I started realizing that I might loose my tooths. So, went to a dentist. He told me that I should do root canal treatment for both tooths and It would costs around 1800 bucks (in rupees) each. I said ok. But after this I should use a cap above that to make it look like a normal tooth. That cap itself costs around 3000 bucks each. The first tooth is a wisdom tooth which is the last tooth. For filling, it costs 1800 and for the cap it costs 3000. So, totally it costs 4800 rupees for this tooth. The other tooth is in my left side. which is the second tooth from last. I don't have third tooth from last. So, he said i should fix that tooth also. The second tooth from last is the decay tooth which needs to be fixed. It costs 1800 for filling ( means root canal) and 9000 for cap. 9000 = 3000 * 3; is, cap for that decay tooth, cap for the missing tooth and cap for the support tooth. So, totally it costs 15ooo for two tooths. I don't really understand if its really cost 15000 for two tooths. Please help me if it really costs 15k for both tooths. Ot I'm cheated by this dentist. Advance thanks for your help. |

What, nobody's answered your query yet ? Since one of my nieces has the same name as yours, I'll try - FWIW - I'm giving you US prices.. BUT maybe it will stimulate a local excellent dentist to match and WAYYY better the price.
I have quite some experience with my dentist - a Dr. Yan - UCLA grad - and he's found working on my UK-brought up and looked after mouth renumerative. He's quite a buddy now - can a dentist be a buddy ? I'm quoting Aetna insurance prices, for the 80516 zip code: Root canal for molars excluding restoration US$739. Crowns - Full Metal Jacket:-), oops I mean, Full Cast Noble Metal USD581. That adds up to USD 1320 for just 1 tooth. You do the math.. How young are you ? and do you have any terminal diseases ? Its probably worth your while fixing your teeth at your INR 15K price, IMO. Modern day, US at least, dentistry, and periodontics means that old ideas of chalishi, of a kawili( full denture) at 40 is quite simply OLD. You ought to be able to DIE with your natural teeth. So my buddy dentist, Dr. Yan says.. but he would wouldn't he :-). Good luck. I strongly relate to your fear of dentists. I take an interest in this and if I can help further I will. Get references about your chosen dentist for gawds sake. Check which school(UNIversity) he went to. Call the school to ascertain credentials. These are YOUR teeth. -skk |
