Discoloring

Hi GoanDentist,

I have been in India about two months now, and I've gotten this strange grey discoloring on my two top teeth. The last time I was in India this happened to me as well. When I went back to the States, it ultimately went away, but I plan to be here for two years and wish I didn't have grey teeth. Do you know what/why this is happening and what can I do about it?

Thanks!

Where is GoanDentist these day?

bglick: Welcome to IndiaMike

As a layman, I can only suggest you visit a dentist where-ever you are ASAP to get the cause sorted out.

Doctor,
What would it cost for a tooth implant?
What material is used?
How many sittings would be required?

GoanDentist is Back !

Hey Nick ... I am back. Work, work , work. that’s what's keeping me away.

Hello bglick , Is yours a condition that is brought on specifically in India ?? (strange). Are you taking any medications ; anti-malarial, prophylactic antibiotics. It could also be your diet but its very odd for only the front 2 teeth to discolour. Is there perhaps a little bit of discoloration on the other teeth as well ? PM your pictures to me , I would be very interested in looking at them.

Hello Sanjay... Let me say at the outset that Implants are not meant for everyone. There is a lot of planning that goes into having them and you must be an ideal case to have them. What it means is that you must have good bone, non-smoker, no diabetes etc. An average benchmark of prices could be anywhere between Rs 20,000 to Rs 48,000 depending on the system of implant used and the prosthesis ( crown and bridge ) work that will follow the implants. Implants is done in 2-3 stages. The first is embedding the implant in the bone and the second is anywhere from 6 months to a year to expose those implants and do crowns or bridges on them. A denture of a temporary bridge may also be provided in cases where aesthetics is the patients primary concern. The material used is Titanium.

Hello Dr Pimenta...
Ive just been to my swedish dentist and they found two cavities and also wants to remove three of my wisdom teeth. Im off to my dentist on monday for the removal of one wisdom tooth, this will cost me around 4500Rs This appointment is too late to cancel, they would charge me anyway.
Two more wisdom teeth(4500Rs/each)to pull and the two cavities(4000Rs/each)to fix would set me back around 17000Rs. After reading this thread and checking out your website im quite sure that ill be stopping by your office when i arrive to Goa in mid january, Im staying in Goa until late march. Maybe ill even can afford whitening my teeth as well and still pay less than in Sweden.

Would it help you if i bring my journal from my swedish dentist?

Dentistry in India

Wonderful, fast, efficient, clean . hygeneic, value for money pays for my trip to India as well as my families.

1,200 - 1,400Rps for a ceramic crown/cap per tooth compared to 24,000++Rps for similar in this country (Scotland.

Why I no longer go to a UK Dentist ---- Was in pain for approx 3yrs here in the UK with sensitivity stemming from my left side (back). My Dentist kept painting some yuk on teeth but never resolved the problem pain retunrned within a week.

Indian dentisttook all of 5 mins with a litle hot water and a small plastic hose to diagnose I needed "Root Canal Treatment" within minutes of diagnosing I agreed for him to begin working on the tooth to remedy my problem. The best thing I ever did have never looked back pain has gone my bite was corrected and the teeth that had major/large fillingin tehm have since been cappe/crowns. Admittedly this has taken place over my last the visits to India --- the UK health service is a mess

reagards - My Indian dentist works from a tiny office in Sri Ganganagar, my wifes family are from there hence my visits when visting them. Since then a couple of my brothers Scottish friends when visiting India now have worked done by him.

Would imagine the Dental cahrges/prices in Goa will be higher due to teh high number of tourists

I think I pay quite a lot more in Chennai!

To be treated by a guy with his own private clinic including in-house lab for making crowns, bridges, dentures, etc; several assistants including qualified dentists buzzing around....

I'm happy

Hey Scotland first,

Wonder if your dentist in India is making a living or not. The prices you quoted is nowhere close to even my lab costs; but then I run a big practice. Yes Goa is expensive but you should see some of the surgeries here and the equiments they use.

Hope you guys have a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year !

TMD TMJ and Sedation

I'm a TMD patient. We've just got our official notice that we are indeed moving to Chennai. Before I go, I will be sedated and will have my orthotic replaced with a crown on every tooth to reconstruction/maintain my bite.

I'm having this done before I go which is a considerable time contraint and cost. I'm a big whimp at the dentist....sedation is an absolute MUST.

So...if things go pear-shaped while I'm living in India; are there TMD TMJ specialists? Is sedations dentistry a possibility?

Kind regards,

Danie

Danie, I can't answer your questions, as I'm not a dentist --- I don't even know what TMD and TMJ stand for) but I can tell you that you will find both modern dental practices and private hospitals with dental clinics here. I would have confidence you can find whatever treatment you need here.

I had a 'full mouth rehabilitation' done last year chennai. Bet it cost me a lot less here !

Nick...go ahead and make me feel ill...how much?

I will say that although we have decent medical/dental insurance, it doesn't cover any TMD/TMJ. And, it's VERY expensive. More than AISC tuition

I'll have to get the name/address of your dentist. My son is going to need braces in the next couple of years. Do they do sedation for the BIG chickens?

Talking periodontology needed

I will be in Mumbai, Pune, Chandargh, Shimla, and could go to Delhi. I need a referral, in one of the above cities, to a periodontist trained in the USA. I need gum surgery done on two to four quadrants of my mouth. This is a major deal to me and I want to know if anyone has a referral for me. If not, how do I go about finding such a person? I am a pretty good researcher on the interney but have had a problem finding the type of USA trained specialist I am after. I would really appreciate any help.

Also Goa Dentist, could you please give me a rough price in India for gum-flap surgery for one quadrant of the mouth, and is it extra for bone graft? Also, how long before I could comfortably ride a train on an overnight journey? I remain your devoted servant, the cactus bum.

Goa Dentist hasn't been around on the site for a while.

Someone else might be able to give you some names...
