"purified" yellowish water?

quick question:

i'm using zeodine 200 (sodium hypochlorite) to purify the water that i drink, here in calcutta, just from the tap (!)

i had no problems till yesterday, when i filled my bottle with water from the tap in some park. after 5 minutes of applying 4 drops of zeodine in the water, it turned to this awful yellowish color... which i didn't drink, of course.

what's wrong?
any light is appreciated

proper water treatment is 2 drops for clear and 4 for cloudy per liter+/-. let sit for 30-60 min.

some chlorine is in fact yellow-ish. it might also be reaction to minerals or whatever in the water. as far as killing pathogens - i think thems dead w/ 5 drops dude.

thanks for the info...

by the way, you must be right, four drops of zeodine for non-cloudy water makes it taste like swimming pool water... i'll try with two next time.

so you don't think i'll have problems if i drink yellowish water?

(i thought that the zeodine was decomposing or something, because of the heat...)

thank you very much, really
