I'm thinking of buying grapefruit seed extract and probiotics. How many probiotics do you have to take a day? I'm going for 6 months so I'd like to take a big supply with me, unless you can buy them in India..

It's alright to bring this stuff into India. Where do you buy it, I hadn't even thought of taking stuff for if/when I start feeling sick? A health food store, chemist? And you are talking liquid form of grapefruit seed extract aren't you?

Eesh, so much trouble to go to
![]() I just eat the curd every day and leave it at that - I'm not very careful about what I eat (bring on the street food!) and have only been sick once in almost 8 months of travel in India, so I figure it must be working. |

I used the grapefruit seed extract too (tastes god awful) and also had powdered colostrum which worked wonders but it's pot luck most of the time. Unless really worried about it or prone to illness the local curd may well be enouggh (plus it tastes good, especially with nuts in it).

I am so fussy with taste (I would probably start gagging just from tasting it) I think I will just go with the flow, have the curd and hope for the best! If I am going to get sick then I am going to get sick, just take the usual precautions with water etc and hope for the best

I have been in India now for a month and my digestive system has been fine. Maybe it's the probiotics, maybe it's the curd, who knows? But I take a probiotic by a company called Enzymatic Therapy, they look like pearls, and dissolve in your intestines, not your stomach, which is important. Also, the amount of bacteria is important also, find one that is over 1 billion. You don't have to refrigerate the probiotic I am taking.

What make of Lactobacillus acidophilus do you guys recommend...
Something fairly cheap that doesnt need to be refrigerated, available from the UK and comes in 120 caps and thats around 15 squid would be nice. I cant find any UK distributers for Enzymatic Therapy. I took a look in my local health food shop yesterday and they sell the Solgar advanced but its only 500 million ...(?) thanks, Carl. |

I could not find the count figure [1 billion ] but you could ask them via e-mail. The site claims this is the highest selling product in the category.

Nutribiotic?
Whatever word will they come up next to drain our wallets? Here's a thought. Acidophilus requires to be kept cool. There is a make my homeopath recommended a couple of years back made for travelers that you don't need to keep in a fridge. Sorry, I don't remember the name. More recently I've just been eating lots of curd there.
