hello- I've just been to have a few jabs and as for malaria the docter said to use PRODERMA 100 (not expensive) we are to take 1 everyday because the one thats 1 a week has too many after effects. I also asked about Malarone which for a months treatment came to about 170 euros. She also said that in Spain in 4 months time it's going to be on the National Health Service and will cost less than half the price. She also confirmed that it was the best but at the moment expensive. So if any Brits in Spain need them wait till spring to get them on the NHS.For the bad tummy (diarrhoea)an antibiotic SPRIRAXIN (tablets)that is easily iliminated from the system. Together with some tablets called FORTASEC. |

PRODERMA 100 is Doxy and should do nicely. Take it as directed. You may, if light skinned, want to use sunscreen at first till you get used to the Indian sun..

I believe doxy tablets cost around Rs.2 per tablet. So, 30 days would cost you around Rs.60.
Cheers Zoltan

Great, thanks for that! I think I'll just wait til I arrive rather than spend 1150 on a months supply here.

Doxy also serves well against minor stomach distress. Just note that it counteracts certain BC pills..

Yes I wonder too as to how they'll keep it up,and not only that all who come here get medical service free.Bulgaria -romania-morrocco etc.,
btw- all the jabs were on NHS as well. Also a lot of British come here just to have operations done in the hopitals here cos they say it's much better. I had always thought medical service in England was very good- maybe things have changed.

Medical services here are pretty bad these days. That's why so many people go abroad (lots go to India too, of course).
Personally I don't think the European health model is sustainable, with ever smaller working populations and more and more old people. |
