i just use spray and take precautions.
i went to Papua New Guinea a few years back and the guides on the trek i did declined to use anti malarials. they each admitted they'd had malaria but with the amount of time they spent in malarial areas, considered the prevention worse than the disease.

being there for only a couple of weeks, i just took Doxycycline.

Try using mosquito nets. That's when you sleep.

An old gem from the MASTA website comes to mind :

That´s a bonus effect , but the main reason is to have a working concentration in your body as you land in India. There is a window of opportunity for malaria between arriving and working up a effective concentration in your system , so don´t try to save that buck on your first dose(s).
