Glad he is better.

Still needs a doctor, though.

And so am I. And if he sounds half-dead, I would do as Captain Mahajan advises and try and impress on him to go.

Had a sinus infection once and the best healer for villages around was called. Ended up going to Delhi and getting a shot of Pennicillin. Anyway, the healer's reputation was for women's ailments so..

Bet the BF is Indian ...

Tell him to visit an ENT specialist ASAP in Nepal or Sikkim, or at least a GP

They are in every town and most are good (enough), believe it or not.

Cheap as chips, medicines reliable from a big pharmacy ... problem solved.

Next time tag along to India. Don't you want to see the world's greatest country?

Sick boy friend in India

Hello,

I have a medical background and may be of help if the problem is described in some detail, if not not too personal or embarrassing (however getting a local doctor to check him in person would be the better option)

Your willingness is very much appreciated, but we do discourage giving of medical advice, except very general, on the site

Yep!

If this guy was in some very remote village, or up a mountain, then the situation would be different.

Tell him to get some antibiotics if prescribed by his doctor on phone. Many over-the-counter medicines are available in India. So that he can have some temporary relief and then quickly come down to Kolkata. Here you will have good medical facilities to address the situation.

Hi there, really appreciate for all the advise though some are mean ones. Anyway, I just spoke the one of the guy who works in the hotel since he is very ill to walk to the reception to talk to me. Seems that his condition was really bad, yesterday two guys help him to the hospital to see a doctor since he vomit non-stop (think food poisoning). Doctor said nothing serious and gave him some medicine. Today, nope.. not getting any better. He had fever, flu and very pain ear. Probably the vomiting is the infection from the ear. Well, will call again and ask the guy more details.

BTW he is not indian, he is a norwegian.

Not sure if he is willing to shell out any money for the Doctor..

The reason I am saying this is because if he is not willing to pay the fees then hotel people would only take him to a govt. hospital or doctor..and I won't really depend on them (doesn't mean all of them are bad, they are exceptionally good too, but without knowledge I won't rely on one)...

He should consult a good private practitioner, which hotel people might be aware of. Such a doctor would also visit the hotel and check the person, however would charge for the service.
