Thanks for the reply... I'll have a look on the internet as i'm not coming over to Holland this time.
Had a look at your photos and noticed you've been to Nepal. Where would you recommed to stay in Kathmandu budget style for 3nts in October?

Thanks again...

Maybe try a different doctor ? I'm in the same situation, am starting a round the world trip on September in India and need 12 months supply, my doctor gave me a prescription no problem. Just to let you know it doesn't work if you're taking doxcycylone as your anti-malaria tablets.

Your doctor sucks, would he rather have you pregnant?
I Thailand (and probably many other places as well) you can buy lots of different kinds of birth control pills, they had my brand - and it is a lot cheaper than at home.

I've never had any reason to find out if available in India ---I don't see why not.

Anyone?

I never had any reason to find out either, but I would still guess that they are available in India at a fraction of the price at home and without a prescription.

I'm sure you would get pill over there alright, the thing is will you get your own brand ? It takes someone ages to get a brand that suits them so you really don't want to go trying different ones while away. I was in Italy earlier in the year and forgot to take my pill with me, tried a few chemists and none of them had my brand.

Maybe this is a silly question but did you specify you need them for (I assume) a 12-month trip? I can't believe he wouldn't comply. I mean I believe you alright.

Yeah i told my doctor my plans for a 12mth RTW trip and he said he couldn't prescribe them for longer than 6mths! I'll try a Family planning clinic also.

Well that's weird. Maybe something about the durability? If you're going RTW you could figure out where to stock up on your brand on the way then have him give you a prescription for that? Or just try another doctor indeed.

Our 'wonderful' UK National Health Service is full of spending restrictions and beaurocratic controls. There's probably a limit on the maximum prescription.

Hm yes Nick on a less rosy note and about the above-mentioned Dutch not "needing a prescription anymore," that's probably because the pill is no longer in your national health package. So many years of emancipation down the drain and young women not earning so much taking risks again and yadida, rarely a week goes by without some tearful report on teenage mothers. Oh well, welcome to the new century.

almost everything is available in south asian pharmacies without prescriptions = money rules

if something is not available, one can just go to two or three different ones.
got my codeine - cough medicine that way.
wish i hadn't, though as it ruined my digestion

I was wondering if anyone had any experience with counterfeit or placebo being sold as a drug in India? With respective to birth control pill's, some thing like that could turn out to be an expensive mistake.
