Looked straight out of a hollywood thriller. Boy it was scary. Everyone in the car were knocked unconsious, and completly mangled up.

Later it turned out that two police vans were chasing them and hence it was a police chase, but if it was not for the post.. I would have been history. Though quick death is a boon by itself, I need to live for long..
Whoa! Make sure you kiss that pole next time you go past it!

To cut a very long story very short: Fell from a camel in Sam, injured my back. Met a doc in Jaisalmer. Trouble with pain medication. Met a doc in Phalodi. Fell very ill (in the Thar, near Phalodi); was more or less unconscious (very high fever) when I was found <add checking whether I have the evil eye here>, and taken to a hospital near Phalodi. Turned out that I have pneumonia ... blah blah blah... In the very end, I ended up in the Apollo hospital in Delhi, spent about a week there, BUT was able to return to Jodhpur / Jaipur / again Delhi for a week taking it -very- easy. Yay.

Plus crossing a road in Hyderabad... phew...

BTW, who was the IMer who fell from a train when the train left a station - 'cause he was tired / ill. I think he punctured his lung, or ... ? In the very end, he was alright too. Do I remember right?

Last year I was traveling from Araku to Jagdalpur in the one and only Kirandul Passenger. After the train left Jeypore it halted for more than an hour and a half. Only upon reaching Jagdalpur, we came to know that the driver of our train had averted a head on collision with a goods train. The goods train was also in the same track (as there is only a single line), and our driver was some how able to signal his counterpart, so both the trains stopped at about 100ft apart.

I don’t wish to have a more vivid description of a near death scenario..

The worst part of this is the number of casualties that could have occurred.

And the best part of this is actually you can be oblivious to the fact, as to what situation you have just been through.

I had a near death experience while white water rafting in the Ganges in Shivpuri near Rishikesh.....

I fell from the raft and was carried by the rapid for three kilometers, this happened in 2002...

Ever since i have heard that full body rafting has become a sports by itself...

Times change!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Exactly. I think almost everyone has been close to death, but just not aware of it (so it isn't an actual experience). After all, death is our nearest destination, ever present...
