Naturapathy anyone?
Namaste Everyone! It's been ages since I've posted anything here. Been through a lot of med stuff, specifically ayurveda and siddha vaidya. Btw, I highly recommend Arya Vaidya Sala, KOTTAKKAL, Kerala for anyone who has ailments from rheumatoid arthritis, pain mgmt to overall health. It helped me significantly!!! Now..I was thinking of trying a different type of treatment for -losing weight.
Has anyone heard of good naturapathy centers? Do these places really work in the long run? Is it completely contradictory to ayurvedic principles? cooked v. raw food? I'm planning on continuing my ayurv. meds and siddha vaidya meds (which btw is prob. more ancient than ayurv..) Has anyone tried Urli Kanchan? Jindal? Do you recommend any other place? I'm currently in Northern India, but I'm willing to travel and stay for a period of (30) days or so at the place. Also, price range? Any information in this matter will help! Om Shanti |

I have seen ayurvedic centers in India everywhere. they teach you how the ayurvedic diet and how to cook an ayurvedic diet. I have never attended such a course, but I have seen them in McCleod Ganj, actually in Bagsu, in Rishikesh, Laxma Jula. you can probably find them in other places in India.
I am now taking Trifla, an Indian herb combination that is suppose to regulate your metabolism. they say that if you take it long term, it helps you lose weight. all I can say is that I am taking it for almost one month and I do not get hungry. I only eat 3 meals a day, but small portions, only how much my body needs. I do not get hungry in between the meals. anyhow, good luck with your search. |

Calories in = calories out. It can be as simple as that. I've never had a problem with weight but I still weigh myself 3 times a day - it really instills in you the fact of how much a single meal can actually weigh , what you need to counterbalance that and basically keeps you mentally on guard 24/7 - no vacations but no surprises either.![]()

Back in the states, I was using Dr. Vasant Lad's cookbook. He has written quite a few good, resourceful ayurvedic books.i wanted to try something new - naturapathy. I just started fasting one day/ week (Fridays) eating fruit and veggie juices, sprouts, and soups..NO bread, roti, cereals, rice.. and plenty of water spiked with fresh lemon slices. I'm hoping to "shock" the body, so that the digestion process takes a little rest once a week. Strangely enough, I wasn't that hungry at the end of the first day. Anyhow, I was hoping to go to one of those naturapathy centers as another type of alternative medicine. The diet is the medicine from what I understand, and I was really hoping that some of the IMers may have been to one of those places to recommend one or two to me. triphala is great!! I've used it. It has helped, but I'm at a plateau right now..it's frustrating sometimes... ....ah life ![]() |

Ganesh,
RA is meaning Rheumatoid Arthritis? In which case, Ayurveda will be very good treatment for this. And it should not be too much costly. Hopefully you can locate one good Vaidyaji in your home area (even Baidyanath center is good) and he will give you the treatment program. Don't lose hope, try the Ayurveda! Best of luck! |

RA is not that bad! My spouse has it periodically and she manages quite well so no need for undue dispair..
