Ooh! Thanks for that tip. Will try to get hold of some for my trip. I hope you can get the tablets here in the UK. I've never seen them before - only ever seen the big, messy bottles of goo! ;-)

I've found it moderately good for mouth stuff, but useless for everything else.

But I have seen claims that it has saved lives where all antibiotics had failed...........


The flavour is err.... an acquired taste (many never do). It is so utterly bitter it is amazing. Have to admit that I got to quite like it!

Yes, bismuth subsalicylate can prevent a lot of stomach upsets: just use it cautiously when traveling in Tibetan areas, as it can give you a black tongue (as well as coal-black feces). It is a traditional Tibetan belief that poisoners and evil-doers have black tongues.
