Motor biking to Leh - Seek fitness advice

Guys,

I am planning a enfield biking trip to Leh in about two weeks. I would like to take inputs on what kinds of fitness levels should one expect during the trip.

Are there some specific exercises or a specific exercise regime that I should practice for about 10 days that might help me during the journey?

Thanks!

I hear that it is a tough ride, I want to do it myself one day, but how tough it is depends on how much riding you intend to do each day.

Getting fit beforehand won't help with the altitude, it seems to strike randomly.

Really, if you only have ten days to go, you have left it too late for any sort of specialist fitness regime, all you can do is improve your cardiac fitness by making sure you exercise enough to get out of breath every day before you leave.

I'm not convinced that it's worth trying anything special at this point. Presumably as you're asking here, you don't have access to good advice, and people who launch into exercise regimes without proper advice are far more likely to overdo it and injure themselves, and right now you can't afford to do that.

Have a wonderful time, stop if you get too tired, and post your experiences on here!

There are only a few thing you need to do....
  1. Plan your trip well.
  2. Don't over do the distance riden each day.
  3. Stop at regular intervals overnight to assist acclimatisation.

This is a hard but enjoyable ride. Good Luck...

I did this trip a few weeks ago with 3 others and we had no major problems. Our ages ranged from 47 - 56 years.

I second Mike Cork. I am starting on this trip in couple of day but in a car, but the critical points remain the same.
