Motion sickness + Ladakh
I'm starting to think about my trip to Ladakh in October. All the pictures look as if Ladakh has plenty of space (as opposed to Sikkim with its serpentine roads) so I don't think I should have a problem with motion sickness. Or will I? I'd like to know so I can be prepared. Can someone please tell me what the roads are like? (I don't mind bumpy - it's twisty that I can't stand!!)

the roads don't usually get foreigners too sick, but the locals who aren't used to vehicular travel will often spend half the ride with their heads out of the windows letting their lunches fly out of their mouths...

Observing others -or yourself - there is no sure way of knowing what is motion sickness or altitude sickness. Nausea that gets a lot worse during a steep descent - that would be more likely to be motion sickness.
There are some sections of the road - like the Gatta Loops - which involve a lot of hairpin bends , so yes , motion sickness can be an issue. People do get sick on the road and there are a lot more similarities than differences between locals and tourists . |
