Mosquitos in January and February ??

I will be travelling to mostly northern and northwestern India in Jan. and Feb., with the exception of a few days in Varanasi, Kolkata, Lucknow, Puri/Bubaneshwar, three days in Chennai and three days in Mumbai and a couple in Udaipur.

Does anybody know what I should expect about mosquito levels in my trip to those places at that time of the year? I wonder if in Chennai or Puri or Mumbai I need to get a mosquito net, even if I try to stay in air-con places. I don't even know what a mosquito net IS and automatically I'm nervous that I'm not coordinated or intelligent enough to erect one....

I'd appreciate any advice !!

Thanks,

Greg in New York City

Unless you're at high elevation you need protection from mosquitos regardless of season or whether or not there is air conditioning available. Chennai gets the majority of malaria cases in the entire state of Tamil Nadu.

Order yourself a Skeeter Defeater and be worry free

You'll find them in Udaipur too,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Even the more desert areas of Rajasthan ie: Jaisalmer, Bikaner are not mossi free, though it's more a matter of covering ankles & wrists whilst outside at dawn & dusk and debugging your room before retiring there being epidemic proportions,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

countdown with a mosquito net problem

More info on mossies and nets. If only staying at A/C hotels, probably don't need a net. I bring a net but don't often stay at A/C places.
