Unhappy Mopeds!!!

Does anyone know a UK travel Insurance company that will insure you for riding moped while abroad without a full UK motorcylce licence? All the policies I have looked at so far exclude all cover without the licence. A lesson for us all - Read the small print!
Thanks.

if u do end up hiring a mo-ped, there's a scam i first got hit with in the greek islands & hear has caught on in india- they find out where u r staying & then either steal the bike or cut the fuel lines. they then say u stole/damaged the bikes & if u dont pay they keep your deposite- if this happens to be your passport u r screwed unless u can get the bike back to them- if the bikes u look at have lots ov masking tape on the fuel lines BEWARE

RobL,

Really, are you serious? Here in Canada it's relatively easy to get a license to drive a motorcycle (which hopefully is the same in the UK and you may want to try to do), but most places around the world just require you to have an international driver's license in order to legally drive.

Of course I understand that you're referring to your own medical/travel/life insurance or whatever, and that's the issue. Can't help you out on that but it sounds like a dumb insurance policy to me. Hmm, I wonder if mine will have the same limitations... will have to check, thanks for the idea to do so! I hope to be cookin' down a Indian dirt road in a few months myself.

Smile Sorted

Many policies require a licence back home if you want to ride around Goa on a moped! Luckily I have found one that only requires the International Driving Permit so I have sorted that out. Will be arriving in Delhi this time next week.......can't wait!
