Google #1 hit: http://www.mapsofindia.com/maps/indi...estmonsoon.htm
Great site anyway, i.e. http://www.mapsofindia.com/ . Lonely Planet (or my old edition at least) has two maps showing the onset and retreat and the Nov.-Jan. North-East monsoon as well moving from Kerala thru Tamil Nadu to Sri Lanka. It doesn't make a good scan or I'd have posted it. Ah here it is but the map is less clear, http://www.mapsofindia.com/maps/indi...astmonsoon.htm Since the question comes up so often here, there's a course on the monsoon with excerpts from the book *Chasing the Monsoon* at http://www.uni.edu/gai/India/India_L...n g_India.htm

July 13th will be rains in Delhi, and HP, but most likely not in Ladakh (its quite dry out there in ladakh)
Rains hit Kerala early first week of June, Mumbai by 7th to 12th June, Delhi in another 8-12 days and Himachal another week. |

Yr welcome Jaybel. btw I travelled through the North-East monsoon once and it didn't bother me much, it's no reason to give the south a miss during that period. Then again I wasn't a farmer having his fields and house washed away, it does wreak havoc on people.
It seems the monsoon isn't a heavily photographed subject here although a search in the photo galleries will give you some results. Here's a personal impression http://www.indiamike.com/photopost/s...cat/all/page/1 |
