Just so long as u don't milk the bull too!

Eh? then you pronounce it.

Errr... mabe "uht" is pronounceable in Hindi!

It was Brownboys first technical victory: he pioneered plug'n'play cows: the cows plugged them selves in to the milking machine, and he sat back enjoying!

Well yes...should have put a tense on that - very much in the past and a few thousand miles away (can't imagine leaving a dairy farm back home, to travel to exotic india to....milk cows again) (always wanted to use that smiley). And yes - funny enough we have the same "don't milk the bull" saying back home as well.

Alright! - maybe UHT is an acronym -

now hopefully, if any of the normal people have stayed around and not been frightened of by our usual OT banter - maybe we can go back on topic!

unfortunately I can't lay claim to that invention (yes - there is an automated milking shed setup where the cows literally do walk in and plug themselves in so to speak)!

well....you mentioned it first!

Oh, now I get it. Not that acronyms vs. abbreviations debate again!

It isn't a debate: it's not an acronym unless you can pronounce it as a word. Even better is when the word has become a part of the language to the extent that people have forgotten its origin was an abbreviation. Laser, Scaart, even SCSI maybe --- but U.H.T, no.

Of course, if they'd called it H. U. T. that'd be different!

Can you pronounce uht in hindi, by the way?

Glad you liked the PnP cows

Thing is, most techies never paid attention in English classes, so they don't know the difference, and, as a result, the word abbreviation is now becoming obsolescent. (Not obsolete )

Yes, and in English too. Makes no sense in either, but pronounce, yes.

Alright, it's a litany then, since u're the only one who seems to care about the distinction, heheheh.

PS: I'll look up the meaning of litany myself, please don't bother.

Normal people, BB? U chased them off when u started describing the various processes!

well if any of them were hanging around - your designation of uht as a word will have finished them off for sure!

Back to topic - look what shows up first in the 'Similar Threads' by Nick himself:

What about the Milk?

EDIT:
"well if any of them were hanging around - your designation of uht as a word will have finished them off for sure!"
I didn't say it was a word - the Q was whether it cud be pronounced.

Have you heard of Copper NanoTubes?

Apparently they are quite the in thing in certain academic circles, and have become popular on the internet due to their abbreviation, which, I'm sure, was never meant to be an Acronym.

I'm sure I don't have to remind you guys of the chemical symbol for copper...

Alright, I no longer accept ANY blame for being OT! Since I did veer the thread back on-topic. So,

There was a bowler (cricket, Nick) from NZ (how apt and coincidental with BB around) by name of Bob Cunis.
Of whom a reporter once said, "Neither here nor there."

CNT's? What's so funny about that?

Love it, BTW.
