Methadone

Hello all..
My name is Gonzo, and I am on my way to Goa.I have been on Methadone for many years.
I come from Denmark.

Is it enough with a paper from my doctor, that tell that I am in treatment?Or is something special required?

I plan staying there 2-3 weeks,maybe more.

Thanks for any help guys.

I'd recommend that you take a supply with you so that you do not have to try to buy Methadone in India.

until very recently Methadone was not legal in India and there were no clinics. However, there may have been some movement on this in the last year.

try these guys for more info:

HIV_AIDS service providers are currently the impetus for methadone TX in India, as it helps their clients sytay clean.

Good luck, I know M works!

what does your indian consulate say?
I really don't know the andwer.
I do know that most tourists aren't checked very carefully on entry, and that in the event they do question it, a letter, combined with a bit of dressing conservatively on your part, might do the trick, but you'd have to decide that. I know I wouldn't enter with a few dozen little bottles of stuff, lolol, so some repackaging might be in order.

Thanks for the help.Thatīs not a problem.I get them in pills,so itīs a very civil looking pill glass.

But I am going to our Indian embassy one of the days. They can probably give me the details.

But I cannot imagine it should be a problem,to take to Goa for a month, because I get Methadone, and have all the legal paper work up to date, and the meds ready.
Thanks guys.

I agree with Bijapuri, I've been in and out of Delhi airport dozens of times and never been checked except once when I had a big computer box as check-in luggage. But it's always good to dress conservatively, and if you can have a paper from your doctor (but clear, not just a doctor's handwritten prescription that only a Danish pharmacist would understand) then you can't go wrong.

In my experience, asking the Indian consulate for anything other than visa application forms has been useless. They seem to say "no" or "you need a special permit" for things that are perfectly fine and legal (or else perfectly do-able) without a permit.

I take pills (hypertension) with me and no problem. Last time I was in India I asked a doctor if I could get my pills in India. he said no, but recommended another I could get there. I checked with my doctor at home and he agreed.
As medicine is much cheaper in India I bought six months supply before I came home and brought it into Australia no problem, I did declare it but customs said that as long as I didn't have 'commercial quantities' it would be OK. I am about to run out so its back to India to get my medicine!!
