That is an emotional appeal, not an argument.

Even though inclined towards 'alternative' therapies I'm sure I've taken a number of lethal drugs: how about general anaesthetics for surgery, and the pain killers for the after effects>? Of course I would expose a child to this risk.

Even every-day drugs such as aspirin, and especially paracetamol might very well cause injury or death.

I'm sure there's a longer list than that. You've obviously done your research. Most of us have to rely on mainstream medicine. I agree that it's in the interests of drug companies to suppress natural remedies but until research can convince us that the natural remedies available are effective, the majority have to rely on what's known and available now. It's always difficult to make a decision for someone else, ie your children, but you can only do what you think is best from the information available. Not the best scenario, but life is about making decisions. I remember when the time came for my daughter to have a whooping cough jab. There was some controversy about it at the time. The nurse said "if you ever saw a baby with whooping cough, you wouldn't think twice."
By the way, on a lighter note, my daughter is 24 now and a traveller! She's already done 2 world tours.

for your information, Homeopathy has been 'available' for 200 years. It is older than so called modern medicine. Records show it was successfully treatng diseases like cholera, typhoid, typhus, yellow fever, even the common cold.

Then herbs have been availabe for even longer. The rejection of these tried and true methods by the establishment medicine is tied up with territorialism of the 'new' chemical medicines.

What 'research' did you have in mind? And by whom? The majority will defer to authority, which they believe will protect the from harmful remedies. Howwever, anyone familiar with iatrogenesis knows this is a furfy.

By research, I meant your own knowledge of the subject. I agree that the majority will defer to authority, which of course is the whole problem. If the population are not given the information, what hope of this choice of treatment do they have? I should think that 100% would prefer to take a natural remedy over a manufactured drug.

Hope i'm not too late to fan the flames of this one.

I'm going to add something here which has really stirred a hornet's nest in another forum.

For some daft reason, I feel it necessary to say that it's all my opinion, my experience and i'm merely providing information.

I'm going to India in Feb 05 and I will take the usual bite-preventative measures however, I also want to take a homepathic Malarial prophylaxis. I have found several, along with relevant research supporting their efficacy but i'd like to know if anyone has any experience of them.

I am also aware that the risk of me contracting Malaria is extremely low, if I accept much publicised figures. What are your thoughts?
