Malaria tablets from Mumbay airport or Palolem?
Hello.
This is a very last minute question as I'm leaving for India in 10 hours. Is there a 24h pharmacy (chemist, drug store) in Mumbay airport (arriving at night) or any pharmacy at all in Palolem? I have somehow lost my malaria tablets just before the journey, so I have to buy a new batch in India. Quick search did not help me with this problem. Thank you for your quick answer. |

If you're that into them waiting until Palolem won't make a lot of difference, I thought you had to start them or most of them about 1 week before your arrivel anyway, Don't worry and spoil your holiday over them,,,,,,,,,,,,, |

I have started my malaria medication week ago, but propably misplaced rest of my tablets so that they are nowhere to be found right now. I have been in Calangute before and I remember just one mosquito bite there within a four weeks, so I assume that mosquitos are not very much of a problem in Palolem either. But just to be sure, I would like to continue my malaria medication because I have plans to extend my vacation to further south after a few weeks in Palolem. Maybe I should buy those tables from Karwar, Ankola or any other larger town? There should be chemists anyway. |

You'll be able to buy malaria tablets no problem at pretty much any pharmacy! They're much cheaper than at home too.

You did not mention which tablets you are taking? If it is Lariam then you won't be able to buy it in India. Doxycycline is easily available all across India. |

Thank You all for Your answers. Everything is going to be fine then and this malaria problem would be no problem at all.
THX. EDIT: It's not Lariam (huh). It's main ingredient is chloroquine and it's trade name in Finland is "Heliopar". |

Yep, you'll definitely get chloroquine/proguanil no problem (known as Paludrine in UK - and the Indian pharmacists might know it by that name too)

malia ressistens
no remedy is effective to malaria anymore. Check out the pros databases all over the world - I checked German Danish Swedish English and US med-bases
NOTHING WORKS ANYMORE only the medical MONEYMASHINES. But you can get various stuff to take if you get it and it works. What do you think the 1 bill. indians do? There is hardly any malaria left in Goa by the way |

What will the mozzie situation be like in september-march ?
I`ll be making my way down (roughly) from Delhi to Agra and making my way over to the west coast before making my way down to goa and kerala. Should I be thinking about Malaria tablets ? |

Taking anti malarials is and should be a personal decision, Malaria is present to varying degrees in 93% of India with the Himalaya being the only area truly free of the parasite.
So one mossie bite is all it needs, many don't use medications and nothing happens, for some they get unlucky and spend soemtime in hopsital or worse. It's all down to how much you want to ride your luck!! |

I don't fancy taking my chances too much, I want to enjoy my travels not end up in a hospital !
![]() Perhaps I`ll try and get them in India when I arrive, I`ll have to chance it for the first two weeks though, till the tablets kick in! |
