Nicely put, and thanks for the good wishes. I do have vitamin supplies left from home. Haven't started exploring the local market for supplements and herbal stuff yet. A few oranges and banannas should be helping as well. (Wow: those small local bannanas have real flavour! delicious!)

I think any practioner, woooly or white coated, would say that it is a good idea to keep the immune system in as good order as possible. It takes more that just anti-malarials, whichever kind we choose!

I did find the local doc keen to prescribe stuff I just wouldn't bother to take, like antihystamine for a runny nose, but at least I had the option. And the doc's fee and the drugs came to a lot less than than the prescription charges would have been in the UK.

I'm just back from my wonderful 3 wks in Navi Mumbai, had to take laveran, the proguanil only medicine, even tho we went to the "famous" Royal pharmacy somewhere in Mumbai.

Only got bit by a skeeter (American slang for mozzie) once, I think, in a cyber cafe of all places. I only got to spend 1 hr my whole trip in a cyber cafe as relatives were keeping me busy.

Next year/time I'll know to ask for malaronetm, it should be more widely available by then.
